Ammunition for the 1918 Webley Mark VI
Many of you with older weapons reload ammunition that is no longer commercially available. As does Swiss shooter Ulrich Daum. He was kind enough to pass on some data on the 1918 Webley Mark VI revolver. This information doesn’t really fit into our second database. Consequently, after consulting with the original author, we decided that this would make a great article for our “Tips and tricks” section.
Powder | Charge [gr] | Bullet | Seating depth | V0 (m/s) | Remark |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
RS20 | 5.5 | Lead flat nose 252 grains Brinell hardness 10.4 |
6 mm | 80 | Incomplete combustion |
RS20 | 5.8 | Lead flat nose 252 grains Brinell hardness 10.4 |
5 mm | 120 | Incomplete combustion |
RS20 | 6.2 | Lead flat nose 230 grains Brinell hardness 10.4 |
5 mm | 175 | Virtually complete combustion |
Black powder no. 2 |
18 | Lead flat nose 230 grains Brinell hardness 10.4 |
5 mm | 215 |
Ulrich Daum adds: “The precision is good with 5.8 and 6.2 grains – better than with black powder.”
All that’s left is to wish you every success in loading your own ammunition for older weapons. Bringing these old-timers back to life is a lot of fun.
Yours,
